In Porta del Sol you will find some of the world’s great surfing areas and beaches. The beach area starts east of Isabela and continues around the coastline to Añasco. Farther on is the great port city of Mayagüez with its first-rate zoo, historic theater and beautiful plaza. Even farther down the coast you pick up more beaches, excellent seafood and some outstanding coastal forests. For example, you could go from a Forest Reserve in Maricao to a Dry Forest in Guánica. Throughout the area you will find Paradores and Mesones Gastronómicos, a World Biosphere Reserve or a beautifully restored lighthouse park.
